Honk if You're Happy

I'm alive!

I'm finally starting to feel human again! My sincere thanks to everyone's well wishes. Of all things, my mom has been sick, too.

Today, however things are much better, thankyouverymuch.

My ex moved back to town yesterday, and wanted to see the kids last night. I dropped them off at his hotel after making him buy us dinner at the restaurant next door. I went home alone. Sheer bliss.

My mom called this morning to say that she is feeling better and would take the kids today. I merely had to shuttle them from the hotel to mom's. Woot! Alone again!

I had to go to the dreaded license branch this morning. Since they were closed yesterday, the line of people stretched out the door and onto the sidewalk. However, I spotted my ex at the front of the line, so I butted him out of the way, and within 5 minutes, I had my sticker and was out the door. (BWAH! As I typed that, my ex called. He just left the license branch~ one hour later. Hehehe.)

As I returned home a while ago, I heard the sound of birds chirping on my front porch. See, last fall I'd put a bird house right next to the front door, merely as decoration, but a pair of black-capped chickadees found the house agreeable and took up residence. Yesterday their babies hatched, and now they're in there happily chirping away. I left the front door open, and can hear them as I type this. So cute. I just have to keep any eye on my cats for the next couple of weeks. They are quite fond of wildlife.

So, you see, I'm in a better place today. I am alone, I don't have much work to do, and it is a beautiful day. Life is good.

I'll be back later today to do more blogging. I hope to see you then!

Spotlight On...

Today's Spotlight is on MhehAfter some technical difficulties, my email finally reached him!  Read his answers and learn a little about this neighbo(u)r to our north.

Name: Michael
Age: 33
Location: Burlington Ontario Canada

Where were you born? North York (Toronto)
Er, sorry what I said a couple of weeks ago about Canadians.  I was just kidding!

What did you want to be when you grew up? a Pharmascist.
And now you're working with liquor? I work as the Inventory Manager for Beers, Coolers, Kosher & Asian wines for the largest single liqour purchaser in the world. I get to taste the product at least once a week & I actually have cases of product in my office. This summer will be my first summer in charge of beer and I'm desperatly trying to work ahead so I can be a full participant at HT.
Well, I'm glad that you've got your priorities in order.  Recapping Big Brother is an ugly job, but someone has to do it!

What were mealtimes like for you as a child?
Pretty calm. We were generally all home and the meals were always very waspish. Ham, Roast beef, pork chops. Our idea of Ethnic was Spagetti. Discusions were always about very cerebral.
You and I recently had a discussion about the the word "ethnic".  You really think that the U.S. is less ethnic than Canada?  Yes.  Until you have been here you can't really know. In the US you have primarily two main ethnic groups, African Americans & Hispanics. Here that is not the case. We are much more diverse. More nationalities more languages and much more open and visible.

Did you ever like any of your school photos? No. I looked like a girl. Still do.Then I got acne.

You've got nice skin now, do you have a special regimen?  Not really. Mild cleanser and then Aveno skin brightning that Albacore turned me on to. But really, my skin is still bad, just not as bad as it used to be.

What was your first date like? It was a group date and we went to an intelectual movie. It was Chinese & that's all I remember.
Were you shy?  Very. I still am in a 'date like ' setting. Women are still a complete mystery to me.
That's part of our appeal!

What is in your vegetable bin? Carrots

What color is your car? Silver.
Do you drive much? I live in the burbs, I drive everywhere. Even to the store across the street.

Are you having a good hair day? Allways.
You do have really nice hair!
Mike, I recently heard you say that some people would consider you a "girly man".  Is this because you are obsessed with grooming?  I am obsessed with the way I look. It's a teenage years thing. Had bad acne, now not as bad, so making up for it. Last week I found a few grey hairs, so this week a trip to the stylist is in order to cover it up. Now I seem to be obsessed with staying in shape as well. I am so close to having a six-pack it's not funny.

What is your favorite cologne? Nautica Competition.
What is your middle name? Eric
What type of books do you like to read? Mysteries
Did you watch Scooby Doo as a kid?  Not really. I found it kind of silly. Though it cracks me up that Cassey Kesem is the voice of Shaggy

What is your favorite type of cookie?
Chocolate Chip
Mine too!  Maybe Canadians aren't so bad after all!

Special thanks to Mheh for taking time to chat with us!
